Top 5 Sports Topics I Love Talking About

Sports are a huge part of who I am. (I know shocking on a website called That Sports Paige) If we’ve met or you follow me on social media, you might already know these things because they are synonymous with my personality at this point. But if you are new here, here is a little get to know me: Sports Things I Love Talking About Edition.

1. Christian McCaffrey Should Have Won the Heisman in 2015.

Now before Alabama fans come for me, I’m not saying Derrick Henry didn’t deserve it. Let’s focus on Christian. He broke Barry Sander’s Single Season All-Purpose Yard record that stood for twenty-seven years. McCaffrey’s games were also played very late at night and a Heisman voter even told him they didn’t stay up to watch. Christian has said he is over but to be honest I might never get over it.

2. I  LOVE ARIZONA BASKETBALL

I fell madly in love with college basketball while attending the University of Arizona. I worked in the athletic department and my first ever event as a credentialed media member was covering our team my senior year at the NCAA tournament. I am kind of dramatic myself, so of course my favorite team to root for has had a little drama of its own over the last few years. My only comment is, allegedly we were doing the same thing that everyone else in college basketball was allegedly doing too. It’s always Bear Down and Go Cats forever.

3. Formula 1

Like most Americans, I watched Drive to Survive on Netflix and became OBSESSED with F1. I  am a Ferrari fan so my first full season as a fan has been a roller coaster of emotions, mostly sadness. BUT I can’t get enough of this sport and I think it’s because I still have so much learn about it. I hope there are a few people reading this I can convince to watch the show or just start watching races. If you wan’t to chat about it. I am your girl.

4. #BandwagonMagic

I am fiercely loyal to the teams I have rooted for my whole life but every now and then I like to dabble in the bandwagon fan game. Let’s start with the Chicago Cubs in 2016. I went to Wrigley for the first time, the Cubs broke a 108-year World Series drought. 2019-20 LSU, much to the credit of their social team and Joe Burrow’s play, I became incredibly invested in this team. Boom, National Champions. There is another team I started rooting for this year off to a great start but don’t want to jinx it just yet by adding them to this list. I’ll be sure to update you all as the legend of #BandwagonMagic grows.

5. I am an NBA Fan Free Agent

I  grew up in the Bay Area so I should be a Warriors fan. My entire family is. When I was a senior in high school I started really following college basketball for the entire season and not just in March. That year, Blake Griffin was the National Player of the Year so I said I root for whichever team drafted him, well if you follow the NBA at all, you know being a Clippers fan was SOMETHING. I could probably do a whole podcast series on the Clippers from 2009-2018 (hmmm might do that actually)  After Blake was traded, I became a free agent. I  root for whoever has an Arizona alum on their team and mostly enjoy the sport as a whole but still looking for that one team to capture my heart.
